Mentat is a ubiquitous organizer that integrates both personal and team tasks and notes into one application. It features a holistic, distributed design intended to foster spontaneity and effortless recall. Mentat is an all-in-one GTD® app for teams, businesses, and personal planning.
Mentat allows you to capture your thoughts and ideas with ease and answers the question of "what should I work on next?"
If you combined apps like Trac, Backpack, and Omnifocus you might get the same feature set as Mentat, but it still wouldn't be as cool.

Currently you just need a web browser (Safari, Firefox, IE) or an iPhone. We also have external clients like Aria, AriaTouch and the BlackBerry Mentat application which you can use to manage your tasks from outside of a web browser. You can keep abreast of new products that work with Mentat by navigating to Enhance/Mentat Products.
You can use Mentat to keep track of tasks from several different projects in one unified view, and to coordinate with any other members of your project team (set by you, as an admin, or possibly your boss).
You can sort out what to do for a day from multiple projects and tasks by drag and drop from your ToDo list.
You can assign, prioritize, set due dates, comment and reassign tasks- keeping everyone on that project instantly in the loop since it updates their view and sends notification. Basically, you can get things done for your job, your team, and your personal life with more efficiency and smoothness.
See the video tutorials for some examples.
The Mentat site is free and can be browsed from a PC or iPhone/iPod touch. If you don't want to see ads you can subscribe to Mentat Pro for $5/month. The Mentat BlackBerry app gives you 10 free trials and it, along with other native clients, will have pricing listed on the main page at http://gomentat.com

Almost all of the categories at the top of the list pages are clickable:
Clicking any of these will sort your tasks by that category. After clicking, you can see an arrow next to it
that shows you what direction it's being sorted in. Just click again to reverse the order. It's easy to rearrange tasks in any way you like. You can also click to change from 'All Users' to only specific members. In fact, most of the titles on Mentat are clickable, so play around with it to discover more options.
If you set a task's status to closed, it removes it from the main list view, but retains the task information, meaning you can revisit it by viewing closed tasks or reopen it if need be (see below). Deleting a task means it's gone for good, so it should be used only when you want to completely get rid of something.
You can click on the View___ (default 'View Open') title at the top right of your list:
You'll see a dropdown of viewing choices. If you need to see "Closed" tasks, or set one to "Open" again, simply choose the 'View Closed' option and click the task's 'closed' status to bring up the selector and choose what you want it changed to.
If you deleted a task, it is gone for good to clear up your list, so be sure to note the difference and choose carefully. You will be prompted to comment if you try to delete a task, so you can still change your mind if need be.
Changing a task from one category to another actually moves that task into the other list. So, while it may seem to disappear, it actually still exists. Just go to the area you moved it to by clicking Task and selecting the new category:
Now you will see your task where it belongs. This is to help you categorize things and maintain a clear view of only what is relevant to each chosen category at a time.
Usually this happens when someone signs up using one login name, then tries to login again later using a different favorite login handle.
If you click the 'forgot password' link you will get an email that will let you log in and change the password, but you will still need to remember your original login name at some point to skip that step.
Write us at support[@]brainmurmurs.com if you get stuck in a situation like this and forgot your original login name, and we will mail it to you.
To install Mentat on your BlackBerry OTA, simply point your BlackBerry browser to one of the links provided at http://gomentat.com/home/welcome right below the BlackBerry image on the right.
Be sure to choose the right link for your BlackBerry's OS. You can check your OS by going to Options/About (you will see v4.2... or v4.1... etc depending on what OS you are using).
To install from a Desktop manager, download by pasting the following link in your computer's browser.

After the download completes, unzip the files and use the Desktop Manager's "Add" option, pointing to the MentatBlackBerry.alx file.
A tunneling error like ""Caught exception java.io.IOException: could not open tunnel - failed while connecting to proxy." is almost always related to APN settings. If you are using a GPRS based service like T-Mobile or Cingular. You should verify that your APN data is set correctly.
T-Mobile users enter: wap.voicestream.com as the APN address (with no username/password required)
On the top navigation menu, hover over Account and then click on Manage Contexts. Click 'New Context' and add in a name that you want to use - something like @emails you want to take care of or @phone-calls to make.
Return to your agenda and click on the 'contexts' link at the top of your project list. Now you will see an area containing you contexts. When you open the window on any of your tasks - in either the Agenda or the Project view - you will now be able to assign a context. If you have contextual tasks not in your agenda you will see them under their appropriate context on the right side of your Agenda. If tasks from a particular context are in your Agenda, you can hover over the context name and it will lightup in the Agenda so you can spot them.
If you are a project admin (which you are if you create a project or are granted such by another creator), you have a lot of control over project level preferences. Click on the Admin icon on either the Home page or the 'Admin' link on an individual project. Scroll down to the Subprojects section and click on the button that says "Create new Subproject". Fill in a descriptive name for the subproject and voila! you'll see it listed under your main project in your Agenda!
