If you are interested in beta testing the iPhone, you are going to need to jailbreak it in order to run 3rd party applications.

This is not for the faint of heart, but it has been pretty well streamlined by a dedicated community of developers.

You can find the tool that I used here: http://george.zjlotto.com/index.php/2008/02/12/...

In the words of Lucas Newman “Disclaimer: If you break your iPhone as a result of this. talk, I am not going to feel bad.”

That said, the odds of an actual calamity befalling you see quite low. People have been doing this successfully for some time now.

I would recommend to use the tutorials from iClarified (good screen shots for beginners). I have jailbroken many iPhones using these guides. Just pay special attention to what firmware your iPhone came with out of the box.
Also if you don’t feel comfortable doing the jailbreak yourself there are plenty of people offering the service to you. =)
Happy Jailbreaking! Set your iPhone free…

Is this app available in Installer yet? I’d like to use/test the app. What repository do I need to add in Installer?
Thanks.

Are there any plans to create a Mentat client for iPhone SDK 2?

We actually switched to the SDK as our iPhone development platform as soon as it became available. Since commercial iPhone applications based on the SDK won’t be available for sale until June this has impacted our delivery schedule significantly.
In any case, the development process is well under way.
