Collaboration

Mentat lets you collaborate with as many different groups of people as you like. You can share projects with coworkers, friends, and family members. Each member can work on tasks within the project and view their tasks as a part of their own personalized agenda

Share projects with friends and coworkers

Mentat makes it easy to create and share new projects with other users. Simply go the the project's setting page and send users an invitation. Once they accept you are ready to go: your project will appear in their Agenda view and they can start browsing tasks along with you.

GTD for Teams

Each participant in your project has an Agenda as unique as the contents of their email address book. Mentat allows each team member to coordinate a melange of personal and shared tasks inspired by the Getting Things Done methodology.

Although other users may participate in one or more projects with you, this user-centric design also allows them to keep on top of everything else they have going on in their own lives as well.

Home team advantage

Share shopping lists with housemates, your spouse, or the rest of your family. Once you reach the store, you can pull up the lists on your iPhone or BlackBerry and see what items have been still need to be picked up, and mark them off as you get them. The list will be updated for everyone else to see, so you don't have to come home to a house with four bags of flour and no toilet paper.

Integrated Communication

Mentat's event framework turns the Agenda into a dynamic communication tool. You can create or view comments on your tasks from other Project members associated without leaving the current page and see new comments as they arrive.

You can also create and assign new tasks as soon as you think of them. When other tasks are assigned to you the immediately show up at the top of your Agenda for you to do, defer, or delegate to someone else on your team.

Smart notification

Mentat provides email or SMS notifications when users change the state of a task or leave comments on a task. Mentat applies some basic rules to make sure that notifications are relevant.

Mentat only informs you of actions taken by other stakeholders in a task. If you create a task and assign it, you'll get notified when the other person makes changes, but not about your own changes. If you create and handle a task yourself, you won't get spammed about it.

You can also opt to "follow" individual items in the Project View, which will add you to the task's stakeholders list or simply specify a project-level address to send all updates to.

Do it, delegate, defer it, or dismiss it

Items assigned to you by other users automatically show up at the top of you Agenda shortly after being assigned to you.

The Agenda allows you to easily scan a task's description and comment history and provides you all of the tools you need to quickly disposition your new responsibility. Within two quick clicks of your mouse you can delegate the item to another team member or move it out of your Agenda to be handled later. If the task is easily completed or something you choose not to complete, you can simply close the new item. If your project requires closing comments a small dialog will appear to allow you to log your comment and move on with your day.

Delegate tasks to other users

With Mentat you can reassign a task in to another project member without ever leaving the Agenda. Simply move your mouse over the Agenda task, click on the info icon to bring up the task HUD. Click on the assignee name and it automatically turns into a drop down containing names of the project's members.

Once you select the new assignee, you will be asked to enter any instructions you have for the new assignee. The comment will be added to the task log automatically and the assignee will get a email notification of the assignment and the comment. The new task will show up automatically in their own Agenda.

Receive comments

When a team mate leaves a comment on one of your tasks, the task's comment icon will light up to let you know. If the task is in one of your project folders, the project folder's comment icon will light up to let know to look inside.
