Does anybody know how to “archive” or “put away” a project once you’ve already checked off all the items inside of it? I’m trying to figure out how to un-clutter the Projects listing without actually deleting all of the old items…any help or ideas from all you Mentats out there would be appreciated!

It would be great to have an actions feature associated with tasks. This eliminates the need to create micro tasks and sub projects around a specific larger task. For instance, if I have a task to develop a specification, there are a bunch of actions associated with that which are not worth of their own task which then needs to be tracked. A simple list button next to each task could show and action list with things like “email john about spec”, “find similar products on the internet”, “son’t forget to use word as the html editor”, etc. Wondering if this is an easy feature to add?????

I called Brain Murmurs today and asked them if we should expect any new development of MENTAT. I was told by Eric that the guys are wrapped up in a number of things for Iphone and he doesn’t expect to see any development in the near future. I would guess that that would mean we won’t see them addressing any issues on the forums either.

First, this product is fantastic. I am in the process of implementing a PMIS (perhaps going the self-development route with Access 2007). While gathering requirements last night, I stumbled upon Mentat.
You are extremely close to achieving another win with service offering for a Program and Portfolio Management System. If you add this functionality, you will hit a much larger audience. As a Program Manager, I find this tool extremely beneficial, and can achieve wins in its current functionality, utilizing Projects as Programs, and sub-projects as the actual unique projects.
To get the next win, I have provided the steps below to meet Portfolio and Program Governance, respectively. If you pursue, I don’t need any reference – its mostly PMI standards, but consider giving me a free copy? :) On a serious note, send me an email if you consider and want more information. I am more than happy to help (yes, free!)
Portfolio MIS:
1. Add a Strategic Alignment or Initiative level, similar to Add a new Project, Subproject, etc in options.
2. The layout will be similar to task, but request a quantifiable deliverable in x period of time (typical is yearly). Example: drive a 20 percent increase in customer satisfaction survey by Q3 end.
3. Provide a location for Link mechanism to Programs (easier to have a selection option in Program Area, as opposed to link to multiple Programs per 1 initiative).
4. Some way to have a late task change status of Initiative Goal??
Program MIS:
1. Same as above – add option for New Program. Projects will be able to be linked to Programs for clear identification of corporate work.
2. Program similar to Project (identical?) add process now – for easier win, replicate current operation – in the end, it will only be an additional 2 levels (optional) added to a WBS.
Finally, if pursued, consider changing Subproject Verbiage to Activities or Tasks, for no other reason than the avoidance of more subs.
Again, great job with this! I am just bummed I didn’t find you earlier!

Hello David,
The fact of the matter is, we don’t have the hardware to test the build on. The Mentat client for the BlackBerry can be tried for free, though, so it wouldn’t cost anything to try it out.
My suspicion is that it will work without issue.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Unable to see due date

I just got a Mentat account and was going through the “agenda tutorial” project and discovered that each item has a due date (see “tip – setting due dates”). I can’t see any dates at the far left of items, but that space becomes a mysterious control when clicked, so it appears a place for the due date exists.
I’ve logged in with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5, Google Chrome 1.0.154.36, Safari 3.2.1 (Windows), and Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 without any success in seeing the due date.
